Can the DPF be cleaned without removing it?

Sometimes a forced regeneration is enough if the soot load isn't excessive. If it's heavily loaded or full of ash, it has to come off for a bench clean. We decide from the data first.

Is it legal to remove the particulate filter?

No. Driving without a DPF fails the ITV and is a finable offence. We diagnose it and get it working — we don't delete it.

I only drive in town — will it just happen again?

Likely, if the usage doesn't change. We explain how to complete regenerations (a run on the open road now and then) and check the system is healthy.
